In support of our work in Yangon, Myanmar, People’s Alliance for Credible Elections (PACE) is looking for motivated volunteers (Myanmar Nationals) for media & social media monitoring during the upcoming 2020 General elections.

People’s Alliance for Credible Elections (PACE) is an independent, non-partisan, non-government domestic election observer group based in Yangon. PACE was founded in 2013 to strengthen democratic institutions in Myanmar through safeguarding citizen rights and promoting public participation in the electoral process. To promote transparency, accountability and inclusiveness in the electoral process, PACE will mainly be working on civic and voter education, election observation and electoral reform.

PACE is an independent civil society initiative to secure every citizen’s political rights and enhance electoral transparency and accountability. PACE will work to ensure all citizens’ political rights including the right to vote and stand for office by engaging in activities that promote citizen participation, safeguard political and civil rights through a program of electoral observation, policy advocacy and civic education.

Purpose of the Position: To assess the performance of the media and social media in their coverage of the 2020 elections in order to create an evidence-based on the quality of reporting observed in the media & social media.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Scan newspapers, television, radio and the Internet for news items.

  • Record, copy and upload the information and materials to the database;

  • Measure, codify and analyse the news (reading the daily newspapers, watching and listening to the television programmes);

  • Monitoring the usage of social media accounts using a analytics and statistical tool and techniques;

  • Evaluating and reporting the media and social media content, feeding back to the team and

  • Perform other related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree in relevant area

  • At least 3 years using experience of social media platforms (especially Facebook)

  • Proficiency in using internet, email and Microsoft Office including Excel and Word

  • Workable knowledge of written and spoken English

  • Ability to organize work efficiently and ability to work on initiative and to solve problems

  • Familiar with NGOs/CSOs work nature and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
